According to worldometers, we hit a population of 7.8 billion people as of July 2020. As we celebrate 7.8 billion people in the world, here are some interesting facts on where we headed:

1. THE 10 COUNTRIES WITH THE LARGEST POPULATION IN 2100.



According to the UN report, With a population of 1.5 billion, India will be the most populated country in the world by 2100, according to the UN Department of Economic and social Affairs. Nigeria will show the fastest growth, with a jump from seventh position to the third. Here is the list of other countries that will follow:


India - 1.5 billion
China - 1 billion
Nigeria - 794 million
USA - 447 million
Democratic Republic of Congo - 379 million
Pakistan - 352 million
Indonesia - 306 million
Tanzania - 304 million
Ethiopia - 250 million
Uganda - 214 million

2. BY 2024, INDIA'S POPULATION WILL EXCEED CHINA'S:



A UN report said that in roughly Seven years, India's Population will surpass that of china. China has a population of 1.4 billion followed bi India's 1.3 billion. The two countries constitute 37 % of the world's total population.

3. TOKYO IS THE LARGEST POPULATED CITY IN THE WORLD FOLLOWED BU DELHI:



Tokyo(Japan) has 37 million inhabitants, Delhi(India) 29 million and shanghai (China) 26 million.

4. VATICAN CITY HAS THE LOWEST POPULATION IN THE WORLD:




With a population of less than 1000 people, the European country has the smallest population. Vatican City is also the smallest country with land area of 121 acres.

5. NEW ZEALAND HAS MORE SHEEP THAN PEOPLE:




In 1982, New Zealand had 3.18 million people and 70.3 million sheep. That's 22 sheep per person. 

6. 250 BABIES ARE BORN EVERY MINUTES IN SOME PART OF THE WORLD:




According to the UN report 250 babies are born in some part of the world every minutes, making it more than 130 million a year.

7. EUROPE'S POPULATION IS DWINDLING:




Europe will be the only region with a smaller population in 2050 than in 2017. With 2.1 birth per woman, there are not enough babies being born to increase the  population, according to the UN.

8. MORE PEOPLE IN INDIA SPEAK ENGLISH THAN IN THE UK:




According to the BBC report in 2012, India claims to be the world's second largest English speaking country, With 125 million people in the country Speaking the language.

9. TWO - THIRDS OF THE POPULATION WILL LIVE IN CITIES BY 2050:




Today, about 55 percent of the world population lives in urban areas. This number is set to rise to 68 percent bu 2050 according to the UN report.

10. AFRICA'S POPULATION IS SET TO DOUBLE BETWEEN 2017 AND 2050 :




Africa's population will double, according to the UN report by 2050. Additional 2.2 billion people expected in the world.
